NanoCell vs QLED! Which is the Best TV?

Exciting about what is NanoCell TV? Most of us are familiar with QLED, though how is this tech work? Which TV tech is the best? NanoCell vs QLED?

There are multiple technologies available in today’s market like LED, QLED, and OLED, by the way, you might see some weird new tech terms used by some specific brands like LG NanoCell TV, Crystal UHD TV referred by Samsung. Yes, these are all the most confusing terms to understand by normal consumers. So, I’m here talking about only NanoCell and QLED technology, because both come in the same pricing ranges and use similar kinds of technologies branded by LG and Samsung respectively.

What is NanoCell TV?

As the name refers, NanoCell TV uses the nano-particles that act as a filter to remove impurity or unwanted dull colors(lights) that results in producing pure red, blue, and green colors.

Hence, these nano-particles are placed as a layer in front of the LCD panel and lights passed through this nano-particle layer filter out the impurities colors and produce the pure red, blue, and green colors on the TV screen.

QLED is an abbreviation of Quantum Dots LED TV.

In contrast to NanoCell, QLED uses nano-crystals to illuminate the colors like red, blue, and green. These nano-crystals have been placed as a layer directly behind the LCD panel.

Here is my other post that explained Samsung QD OLED,

The common thing between NanoCell and QLED Tech is both uses LED backlighting to emit the lights which used to produce the picture.

So, you can put LED, NanoCell, Crystal UHD, QLED Technologies in the same basket because all these use the same LED backlighting.

Note: OLED is the latest, advanced, and totally different technology than all others. It produces the best picture quality and also costs are high.

So, here I’m not including OLED in this comparison. If you are keen on picture quality and will pay more, just go with OLED without any second thoughts.

Brand

NanoCell produced by LG. But Samsung makes QLED TVs.

Only LG is producing these TVs, it has the patent right to NanoCell tech.

Some other brands like TCL, OnePlus, MI started to produce QLED TVs.

Technology Used

NanoCell TVs use LED LCD Technology. Additionally, use NanoCell particles to improve the picture quality. It is an enhanced version of LED LCD TV.

QLED TVs use Quantum-Dots LED Technology.  Additionally, use Quantum dots to improve the picture quality.  It is also the enhanced version of LED LCD TV used alternate way than NanoCell.

Note: Both technologies use LED (Light Emitting Diode) Backlighting use to produce the light/picture.

How it works?

NanoCell TV uses nano-particles that act as a filter to remove unwanted lights to produce pure red, blue, and green colors. These nano-particles are placed as a layer in front of the LCD panel. So, this TV produces a pure form of red, blue, and green colors, and smoother color transition.

QLED TV uses nano-crystals to illuminate the colors like red, blue, and green. These nano-crystals are placed as a layer directly behind the LCD panel. So, this TV produces bright and perfect red, blue, and green colors.

Panel Technology

NanoCell TVs use IPS (In-Plane Switching) Panel.  This IPS panel gives a wider viewing angle. But this is only ideal for daytime when the room has more sun lights, not produce dark black at night darker room.

Samsung QLED TVs use VA (Vertical Alignment) Panel. Because of using the VA panel, its viewing angle is less compared to IPS. VA panels produce dark black, perfect to watch movies in the darkroom, nighttime.

Let see the comparison table between NanoCell vs QLED.

Conclusion

From the above comparison, we can clearly understand both NanoCell and QLED has their own pros and cons. Even though we can conclude some final points here,

QLED uses a VA panel, it produces high contrast pictures, mostly HDR content looks great, but lesser viewing angle. We can say QLED win this battle because of darker blacks, and high contrasts. Because most people love to watch movies in a darker room that gives perfect blacks.

NanoCell TV uses an IPS panel that offers a wider viewing angle and gives a brighter color ideal to watch when the room is brighter.

Hence in the battle between NanoCell vs QLED, my pick is QLED.
